Johnny Depp thanks Savage X Fenty founder Rihanna.
On Wednesday, the “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor took to social media to tease his look at the singer’s latest annual fashion show. The event marked Rihanna’s fourth fashion experience on Amazon Prime since 2019.
On his Instagram feed, which has already racked up over 9.5 million views, Depp poses against tech lights as he fashions a pair of sunglasses, a partially button-down shirt, and an array of silver chain necklaces.
“Thank you @badgalriri #SAVAGEFENTYSHOW Vol.4 Out now @primevideo” he said to the post.
In his 40 seconds appearance in “Savage X Fenty Vol. 4,” Depp — who made history as the first male celebrity to “star” in a Savage X Fenty show, according to Variety and TMZ — strutted down the catwalk, belting out Rihanna’s latest menswear collection to Outkast’s “So Fresh, So Clean” . “
With her hair pulled back into a ponytail and wearing her signature layered necklaces, the actor strolled for a long time through a dark forest as fog machines rolled by. He was joined by a group of dancers and the Golden Globe winner hugged a tree at the end of the film.
Just days before the event, HuffPost confirmed that he would be making his first in-person appearance at the event following his public legal battle with ex-wife Amber Heard.
Rihanna’s decision to include Depp on her show sparked an onslaught of mixed reviews on Twitter.
“Rihanna can’t be serious? With all these handsome and trouble-free men in Hollywood, and Johnny Depp is the one who appeals to you the most?” one user wrote.
Others defended the Grammy winner, with one comment that “she can have anyone she wants in her own show.”
Earlier this year, a Virginia jury provided Depp $15 million in damages in a defamation case against Heard accusing him of domestic violence and sexual assault.
Jurors also awarded Heard, who still claims Depp molested her, $2 million in damages in a countersuit against the actor.
The case against Heard centered on a Washington Post op-ed in 2018 in which she claimed she had been a victim of domestic violence while married to Depp.
The report eventually led to Depp filing a defamation suit against her for damages to his career after the story was published.
“Savage X Fenty Show Vol. 4” comes just months after Depp’s uproar controversy for doing a unexpected virtual appearance on MTV this year Video Music Awards as Moon Person’s signature at the ceremony.
In a pre-taped segment, the actor practically appeared, with his face superimposed on Moonman at the VMAs, during the surprise moment at the Prudential Center arena in Newark, New Jersey, in August.
The moment drew mixed reviews, especially from Heard’s sister, Whitney Heard, who hit the internet as “nasty and clearly desperate” at the time.
“Savage X Fenty Vol. 4” is now streaming on Amazon Prime.
