
Migos: Takeoff’s final Instagram story before fatal shooting
Takeoff, a member of the rap trio Migos, was shot and killed in Houston, Texas on Tuesday, November 1st.
The rapper – full name Kirshnik Khari Ball – was 28 years old.
Police were called around 2:34 a.m. local time (7:34 a.m. EDT) to a shooting outside 810 Billiard and Bowling Alley in downtown Houston, where a private party of about 40 people was taking place.
Takeoff and his Migos bandmate Quavo were both in attendance. Quavo – real name Quavious Keyate Marshall – was not injured in the altercation. The third Migos member, Offset, was not present.
An argument broke out, reportedly over a dice game, and shots were fired. Flytak was pronounced dead at the scene.
His death has been mourned by industry figures and fans, with tributes to the late rapper pouring in on social media.
Celebrities including James Corden, Drake, SZA, Outkast and Khloé Kardashian have shared posts remembering the rapper.
So far, no suspects have been arrested, and Houston Police Chief Troy Finner has called for witnesses to “step forward” with information about the shooting.
Police, as well as the rapper’s fans, have urged others to remove videos of the incident that have been circulating online.
Metro Boomin pays tribute to Takeoff
Metro Boomin, who produced Migos’ hit “Bad and Boujee,” expressed his grief over Takeoff’s death on Twitter.
“I can’t even put into words how bright and warm a soul he was,” reads part of his heartfelt tribute.

James Corden says he shared some “unforgettable moments” with Takeoff and fondly recalled how the US rapper referred to him as “Big Drip”.
Host of the American program The Late Late Show said the artist “essentially willed Migos into existence” and that they had become “one of the most influential rap groups of this generation”.

Offset pays tribute to Migos bandmates
Offset and Quavo have yet to release a full statement following Takeoff’s death.
However, Offset has subtly paid tribute to his late Migos bandmate by changing his social media profile pictures to pictures of Takeoff.

Artist Rob The Original has gone viral for his incredible portrait of a dead rapper made out of clothes.

An autopsy reveals that Takeoff was shot more than once
Takeoff was shot multiple times, the coroner’s report confirmed.
The Harris County Medical Examiner confirmed his cause of death as a “gunshot wound” and ruled his death a “homicide.”

Kanye West pays tribute to Takeoff in a Twitter tribute
After his Twitter account was recently reinstated, Kanye West followed up his comeback by posting a photo in Takeoff’s honor.
Along with a photo of him and The Migos rap trio in his previous release Donna 2 album, West wrote, “Love forever,” followed by a photo of Takeoff, Offset and Quavo, captioned: “Family.”

Nicki Minaj has become the latest rapper to pay tribute to Takeoff after his death.
The “Superbass” artist shared a photo of the Migos member on her Instagram Story on Thursday (November 3).

Video sourced from TMZ appears to show a person of interest standing with a gun in his pocket moments before Takeoff was shot dead.
The man is seen holding a gun when Takeoff’s bandmate Quavo gets into an argument with someone.
The same person is then seen with the gun drawn before shots are heard.
The police are aware of the footage.

A new mural honoring Takeoff has been painted in Atlanta
A subway in Atlanta, Georgia now has a mural of Takeoff.
Takeoff was a native of Lawrenceville, an Atlanta suburb, along with fellow Migos star Offset.
The mural is located under the John Lewis Freedom Parkway Bridge near Fourth Ward Park.

The Los Angeles Lakers basketball team honors Takeoff
The Los Angeles Lakers basketball team is among the latest to honor Takeoff.
In the build-up to last night’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans, it was “all Migos music for the Lakers warm-up tonight in honor of Takeoff,” Lakers press secretary Mike Trudell tweeted.
The Lakers were also teamed with former basketball player Kobe Bryant, who tragically died in a helicopter crash in January 2020, along with his daughter Gianna and seven others.
