Goldwasser was speaking at the Infosys Prize 2022 awards ceremony organized by the Infosys Science Foundation (ISF) on Saturday.

“I salute the Infosys Science Foundation for giving respect and honor to researchers, scientists and humanists who are the true heroes of progress,” she said.

Emphasizing the importance of investing in science and research, Infosys Science Foundation President Chris Gopalakrishnan said, “The Infosys Science Foundation has instituted the Infosys Prize to highlight the importance of scientific research for the development of India and the world.

The Infosys Science Foundation (ISF) on Saturday honored the winners of the Infosys Prize 2022 for their significant contributions in research.

Infosys Prize 2022 winners in six categories – Suman Chakraborty, professor of mechanical engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (Engineering and Computer Science); Sudhir Krishnaswamy, Vice-Chancellor (Humanities), National Law School of India University, Bengaluru; Vidita Vaidya, Professor and Chairperson, Department of Biological Sciences, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai; Dr. Mahesh Kakde, Professor of Mathematics, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. Nissim Kanekar, Professor of Physical Sciences at the National Center for Radio Astronomy, Pune; Rohini Pandey is Professor of Economics and Director of the Center for Economic Growth at Yale University.

Chief guest Goldwasser felicitated the winners in various categories with gold medals, citations and $100,000 prize purse.

Eminent scientists, academicians, industry leaders, young researchers and students from all over the world participated in the event.

Infosys Science Foundation trustees Chris Gopalakrishnan, Narayana Murthy, Srinath Batni, AK Dinesh, Nandan Nilekani, Mohandas Pai, Salil Parekh and SD Shibulal attended the award ceremony.
